Major Soccer League MLS is a men's professional soccer league, sanctioned by U. S. Soccer, that represents the sport's highest level in both the United States and Canada. MLS constitutes one of the major professional sports leagues of the United States and Canada. The league comprises 22 teams— 19 in the U. S. and 3 in Canada. Instead of operating as an association of independently owned teams, MLS is a single entity in which each team is owned and controlled by the league's investors. The league has a fixed membership, like most sports leagues in the United States and Canada, which makes it one of the world's few soccer leagues that does not use promotion and relegation.

Major Soccer League Conferences The MLS regular season runs from March to October, with each team playing 34 games; the team with the best record is awarded the Supporters' Shield. The postseason includes twelve teams competing in the MLS Cup Playoffs through November and December, culminating in the championship game, the MLS Cup. MLS teams also play in other domestic competitions against teams from other divisions in the U. S. Open Cup and in the Canadian Championship. MLS teams also compete against continental rivals in the CONCACAF Champions League.

National Women’s Soccer League The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) is a professional women's soccer league, run by the United States Soccer Federation. At the top of the United States league system, it represents the women’s soccer highest level in the United States. It now has 10 teams based throughout the United States

National Women’s Soccer League Competition format The NWSL season runs from April– September with each team scheduled for 24 regular season games, 12 each of home and road. At the end of the regular season, the team with the highest point total is awarded the regular season title. The four clubs with the most points from the regular season standings qualify for the NWSL playoffs, which consist of two semifinal single knockout matches (top seed hosts fourth; second hosts third), with the semifinal winners advancing to the championship final hosted by the team with most regular season points.

North American Soccer League The United Soccer League (USL), formerly known as USL Pro, is a professional men's soccer league in the United States and Canada that began its inaugural season in 2011. USL is sanctioned as a Division II Professional League by the United States Soccer Federation, placing it under Major League Soccer (Division I) in the hierarchy. Consists 29 teams.

North American Soccer League All teams Competition format are divided into two conferences and played 28 regularseason matches stretching from March to September. This included a 22 -game, double-round-robin schedule that pitted each team against all its conference opponents at home and on the road. The remaining six fixtures were played against regional rivals, which lead to some inter-conference regular season matches. The top six finishers in each conference went through to the October playoffs, which continued as a series of single-game knockout rounds. After three rounds of intra-conference play, the two conference champions met in the championship match, to be hosted by the team with the better regular-season record. For 2016 season the season was extended to 30 games.

North American Soccer League NASL is a professional men's soccer league with seven teams: six in the United States, one in Puerto Rico. Until 2017, it was sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation as a Division II league in the United States soccer league system, under MLS and alongside USL. However, U. S. Soccer has since repealed the Division II status of the league and the future is uncertain as the NASL appeals the ruling.

North American Soccer League The NASL uses a split-season schedule running from April to early November, with a four-week break in July. The spring and fall champions, along with the two teams with best combined spring/fall records meet in a four-team single-elimination tournament known as The Championship. The winner of the final claims the Soccer Bowl at the end of the season. While there is no promotion and relegation with other leagues.

Premier Development League PDL is a development league sponsored by USL in the United States and Canada, forming part of the United States soccer league system. The league has 72 teams competing in four conferences, split into ten regional divisions. Unofficially, it is considered to be the fourth tier of competition, behind MLS, the NASL and the USL. As PDL seasons take place during the summer months, the player pool is drawn mainly from elite NCAA college soccer and NAIA college soccer players seeking to continue playing high-level soccer during their summer break, which they can do while still maintaining their college eligibility, as the PDL is not considered a "professional" league.

Premier Development League Competition format The Premier Development League, as of the 2016 season, is divided into 4 conferences (Eastern, Southern, Central, and Western), comprising 10 divisions. The league season runs from May through July, with the playoffs decided through July and August. Most divisions aim to play a balanced regular season schedule of between 12 -14 games in a round-robin home and away format, with the top 2 -3 teams of each division advancing to the playoffs.

Premier Development League Playoffs The PDL Playoffs see most regular season division champions earn automatic byes into the Conference Semi-finals, with some second and third place division runners-up competing in single match elimination Divisional Qualifiers. All matches in the PDL Playoffs are played in single match elimination format, with the higher seeded team hosting the match, until a Champion is decided at a predetermined neutral location for a playoff weekend, in which both the Semi-final and Championship matches are played.

National Premier Soccer League NPSL is an American soccer league commonly recognized as being a fourth tier league although it has been given no official designation by US Soccer. Although the league is officially affiliated to the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) and qualifies for the U. S. Open Cup through USASA channels, the league is generally considered to be at the fourth tier of competition in the United States soccer pyramid, behind MLS, NASL, and USL, and roughly equal with PDL.

National Premier Soccer League Competition format The National Premier Soccer League's is divided into four separate Regions (Northeast, South, Midwest, and West). Each Region is divided into conferences with varying number of teams per conference. The regular season runs from May to July with the exception of the West Region that has historically started in late March or early April. The NPSL currently has automatic berths in the U. S. Open Cup where they gain eligibility towards the CONCACAF Champions League.
