UPS Family Assistance and Support Team (FAST) Purpose • The UPS Airlines Family Assistance and Support Team (FAST), is part of the UPS Airlines Emergency Response Plan. The purpose of the UPS FAST Team is to provide an immediate response to the special needs of victim families following an airline incident. • A specialized subset of the FAST Team is the UPS CARE Team. Aviation Disaster Family Assistance Background • Enacted in 1996, the Aviation disaster family assistance act was drafted based on direct input from families impacted by airline crashes including US Air Flight 427 in Pittsburgh on May 8, 1994, American Eagle Flight 4184 in Roselawn, IN on October 31, 1994, Value Jet 592 in the Everglades on May 11, 1996 and TWA Flight 800 off the coast of Long Island on July 17, 1996. US Air 427 • American Eagle 4184 Value Jet 592 TWA 800 The National Air Disaster Alliance/Foundation (NADA/F) was formed by air crash survivors and victims’ family members to raise the standard of Aviation Safety, Security and Survivability, and to Support victims’ families. This group was instrumental in the developing and enacting the legislation and results we have today.
