VIRTUAL RATINGS PROCESS The Future We are going virtual! There will be no in-person ratings as an interim solution due to COVID-19. We will follow a virtual rating process until CDC guidelines change. Go Colorado! Colorado is the first state designing a virtual rating system as part of their QRIS-we are helping pave the way for many other states! Please note: The next slides highlight the virtual rating process. This information is subject to change as we are still developing internal processes and will be collecting pilot feedback.

VIRTUAL RATINGS PROCESS The Future • The rating would be valid for two years

VIRTUAL RATINGS PROCESS The Future • The rating would be valid for two years instead of three; levels 3 -5 will all continue to be levels providers can attain • We will rate one classroom from each age-level represented, instead of 50% of each age group • We would continue using the R versions of the scale for virtual ratings • Providers will be asked to submit a walk-through video of their classrooms/child care spaces, photo evidence, written evidence, and participate in a scheduled interview with an assessor • Checklists will be provided to providers so they will know exactly what type of evidence is needed

VIRTUAL RATINGS PROCESS The Future • We will N/A parts of the scale that cannot be accurately scored virtually, including any health department requirements during COVID (sensory/soft toys) • Providers will have 60 days to submit all evidence-initial ERS evidence is due in 30 days, so assessors can review and ask for revised photos and videos if needed • L 3 -5 indicator documentation will remain almost the same, with a few adjustments for virtual collection-we will be providing an updated evidence guide

VIRTUAL RATINGS PROCESS Next Steps • Currently, we are in development of internal processes and provider/coach resources-these include detailed ERS evidence checklists for coaches and checklists for providers • After all is developed, we plan to pilot with several programs in August and September (originally scheduled March-April+ providers) and survey them to receive specific feedback on the process • After the pilot, we will adjust based on feedback and conduct a second pilot in October (with providers originally scheduled for April-June) • Providers that pilot rating results will count as their official rating • We hope to fully launch in November-continuing to catch up on our backlog of programs in the queue

VIRTUAL RATINGS PROCESS Communications • The Colorado Shines website will be updated with all

VIRTUAL RATINGS PROCESS Communications • The Colorado Shines website will be updated with all the new rating information/resources • Colorado Shines Q&A sessions facilitated by the assessment team on the third Friday of each month will be dedicated to getting communications out about the new rating and supporting those providers approaching their rating-these are recorded and posted to Clayton’s website! • We will host several town hall meetings/information sessions starting in August and continuing into October for coaches, providers, and other ECE professionals across the state-these details will be announced soon • Assessor orientation calls will continue to be a good resource for providers to understand the new process and receive emailed resources
