Objective of the Project Site Visits To: Desired outcome: - Discuss any project management issues and general feedback on CONCERTO and CONCERTO PLUS - Get an update on the project progress and visit the demonstration sites to disseminate the project highlights - Learn about barriers to the project development - Get feedback in order to improve structures and tools within the overall CONCERTO project - To stay in contact with all people involved in the project as well as with the progress that has been made on site - Develop Policy Recommendations based on your experiences

Update on CONCERTO Plus activities: Socio. Economic activity A SE Workshop will be organized in Vienna next 9 th of June. Venue: Austrian Energy Agency Scope: a) to illustrate own projects/communities SE activities and exchange viewpoints with SE experts of other communities b) to seek possibilities for clustering approaches/activities common to various communities c) to discuss and agree on a simplified matrix based on nine core indicators.

MONTORING Activity Baseline definition… to be done at regional site visits Different baselines provide different results… CONCERTO Plus makes calculations with different baselines Baselines for primary energy factors and CO 2 emissions : - Presentation of possible calculation methodologies (illustrated by the example of Cerdanyola, one of the most complex energy systems among the CONCERTO initiative): - operating margin (Spanish scenario 1) - build margin (Spanish scenario 2) - EU-mix scenario - Discussion on national or regional baselines for CO 2 emissions factors (Example: Ajaccio is in Corsica, which is in France: for electricity we can take the average values for France or the specific values for Corsica… where there isn’t any nuclear power plant)

Preliminary Results of the first 27 CONCERTO communities Expected total reduction in energy use: - Of electricity use: - Of heating energy use (final energy): 33% - Of cooling energy use (final energy): 32% 24% Saved CO 2 emissions through EE measures: ca. 50 000 t. CO 2/yr Unified baselines for calculation Electricity: UCPTE mix: 617 kg. CO 2/MWh - Heating: individual gas boilers with 90% efficiency: 308 kg. CO 2/MWhheating - Cooling: electrical cooling with seasonal performance factor of 3: 206 kg. CO 2/MWhcooling

Preliminary Results of the first 27 CONCERTO communities Balance between energy use and local energy generation from RES : - Electricity use in CONCERTO: 110 GWh/yr - Electricity generated locally from RES: 144 GWh/yr ca. 23% of the electricity generated locally from RES is „exported“ out of the CONCERTO neighborhoods - Heating energy use in CONCERTO (final energy): 205 GWh/yr - Heating energy generated locally from RES: 260 GWh/yr ca. 21% of the heating energy generated locally from RES is „exported“ out of the CONCERTO neighborhoods (= CONCERTO produces more RES than used in CONCERTO communities benefits are carried over to other communities!)
