IS 551 Coulomb excitation of the first 2+ and 3 - states of the doubly magic nucleus 132 Sn. B(E 2) and B(E 3) values in 132 Sn will provide information on cross shell configurations which are expected to be dominated by a strong proton contribution. Test of theoretical predictions: i) large scale shell model calculations ii) mean field calculations (RPA and QRPA) Main advantages of the HIE-ISOLDE-MINIBALL experiment i) intense 132 Sn beam at ISOLDE ii) high beam energy of HIE-ISOLDE however high beam energy is mandatory iii) high energy resolution and good efficiency MINIBALL HPGe detectors Beam time request: 15 x 8 hours shifts for 132 Sn high energy g-ray calibration, HIE-ISOLDE set-up 3 x 8 hours shifts 18 shifts are approved for this proposal

Transfer reactions at the neutron dripline with triton target – IS 561 Set-up, XT

V/u • Expected 9 Li intensity on secondary target 106 /s • Proton count rate: 60/shift to g. s. , 30/shift to low-lying resonances • • 20 shifts (+ background measurement) will give decent angular distribution for g. s. This data will allow to exclude or prove presence of low-lying structures • Neutron efficiency 3% in compact geometry • Cannot run in August
