Transfusion Medicine Clinical Section (CZ) • Starting July 2015, Transfusion Medicine has been established as independent clinical section within CLS and University of Calgary • Dr Leland Baskin is the new clinical section chief for Transfusion Medicine • M. Taher Rad will continue to represent CZ in NAC

IVIG Utilization Program – CZ (Outlines) • • • Establishment of an Calgary Zone medical advisory committee for IVIG Development of a comprehensive registry database for patients receiving IVIG (Entry, follow-up, monitoring and exit from program) Ø BC’s IVIG utilization software will be used online data collection system Submission of Ethical approval for registry database and performing regional observational IVIG utilization projects Collection of data following eligibility, follow-up guideline by IVIG committee Screening of qualified patients for SCIG program following criteria established by IVIG committee Training of patients and issuance of certificate of training. Arrangement for dispensing the product at the closest hospital/Health care centre The time frame of project is 2 years and in case of successful outcomes, continuation of project shall be negotiated with provincial Health care stakeholders. The program has been funded by CSL-Behring and approved by AHS legal office.
