2021 BUDGET On January 20 th, the Board of Health approved the SMDHU 2021

2021 BUDGET On January 20 th, the Board of Health approved the SMDHU 2021 Budget which will support the 2021 Annual Service Plan report we provide to the Ministry of Health. • The Ministry of Health provided mitigation funding to SMDHU for 2021 to off-set the change in the funding ratio from 75/25 to 70/30 that was implemented as part of Public Health Modernization. • The Ministry of Health has indicated that COVID-19 Extraordinary funding would be available as reimbursement for COVID expenses in 2021. • The SMDHU Budget includes one-time cost centres for COVID-19 Extraordinary Expenses (case management and contact tracing), the COVID-19 Immunization Program, and the School-Focused Nurses Initiative • The Board approved a 1. 95% increase in the municipal levy within the 2021 budget.

FINAL THOUGHTS • We are under a State of Emergency, and a Stay Home Order • We have very high case counts • Transmission from social gatherings increased during the holidays • We have some very concerning health care institutional outbreaks • The UK variant represents a substantial threat • We are making very good progress with vaccination (though this will take most of the year). We have the budget, skills, determination and partnerships to succeed!
