Unreliable Narrator • An unreliable narrator are those whose accounts we cannot trust. • They may be sick, illinformed, deliberately or innocently misleading, or incapable of understanding what is happening. • Often they are too close to the story/characters to be unbiased. • The two main narrators in Wuthering Heights are Lockwood and Nelly Dean. Lockwood’s not really good with people (or understanding them), and Nelly Dean is a bit of a romantic—she loves gossip and drama! So…
Byronic Hero • 19 th century poet Lord Byron coined the term…he was kind of one himself! • A Byronic hero is a selftormented outcast who is cynical and contemptuous of societal norms and is suffering from some unnamed or mysterious sin. • However, on the surface they may come across as charismatic, charming, attractive, and mysterious. • Examples: Edward Cullen, Batman, The Phantom of the Opera

This accent is not easy to understand, even for English people!
