Office of Investments Who is the University Staff Advisory Committee? USAC was established in 1986 as an advisory body to the president of The Ohio State University and is an advocate for more than 22, 000 university staff. USAC is composed of up to 30 staff members from classified civil service (CCS), administrative and professional (A&P), and senior administrative and professional. Office of Investments USAC Accomplishments • Initiated the creation of staff appreciation week. • Helped to eliminate the waiting period for benefits eligibility. • Helped to eliminate the waiting period for Dependent Tuition Assistance. • Worked with OHR to increase in the funding pool for Staff Career Development and Manager Development Grants. • Sick leave can now be used to care for domestic partners and adoption purposes. • Benefits extended to same sex domestic partners. 3

Office of Investments Staff Career Development Grants are awarded twice each year to assist eligible Ohio State staff members with education and training costs associated with the pursuit of professional development and career goals. (Up to $1, 000/individual or $1, 500/group) Grants may be awarded for expenses such as registration fees, tuition fees, textbooks, child care expenses, and transportation. 5

Office of Investments Manager Development Grants are awarded each year to assist eligible Ohio State staff who are managers and supervisors to attend classes, seminars and workshops offered by Ohio State. (Up to $1, 000/individual or $1, 500/group) Grants may be awarded for expenses such as registration fees, tuition fees, and transportation. 6
