Interesting Facts: It was founded by royal charter in 1827 as King's College, the first institution of higher learning in the colony of Upper Canada. Originally controlled by the Church of England, the university assumed the present name in 1850 upon becoming a secular institution. The University of Toronto has educated two Governors General and four Prime Ministers of Canada, four foreign leaders, fourteen Justices of the Supreme Court, and has been affiliated with ten Nobel laureates. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings of 2015 ranks the University of Toronto at 19 th place globally and 1 st in Canada. The university was the birthplace of insulin and stem cell research, and was the site of the first practical electron microscope, and the development of multitouch technology.

Language Used: Python Molecules and Materials provides fundamentals of molecular chemistry as it relates to the properties of materials. Linear Algebra provides an understanding of linear systems and matrix algebra and their applications in engineering. Calculus II, a continuation from the course in first semester, offers a more advanced exploration into the subject, including complex functions and partial derivatives.
