Referral to the DRC Before a student can receive any academic accommodation, they must have a letter from the DRC confirming their need. n Students must have documentation of their disability to receive an accommodation. n Students can contact the DRC via the website to set up an appointment or can call directly at 7 -2754. n
Accommodation Letter Protocol n n n Students must present the accommodation letter to the faculty member prior to any accommodations being provided. Faculty do not have to provide retroactive accommodations. Students are encouraged to meet with the faculty member during office hours to discuss their accommodations. Because of confidentiality laws, DRC cannot disclose the disability of the student. Accommodation Letter Protocol

Alternate Text Production Provide alternative print format for course textbooks for students who are blind, visually impaired or with print impairment related disabilities n Provided 100+ textbooks in 2015 n Critical that faculty order textbooks as early as possible, as the time to acquire the electronic version can take several weeks n

Accommodated Testing Services Process for Fall 2015 n n n Student should provide letter with testing accommodations at least 7 days prior to examination Faculty should make sure letter is for the current semester Faculty should attempt to meet the testing accommodation needs in the department n n If the needs cannot be met within the department the faculty should submit the online Accommodated Testing Request Faculty must deliver the exams to the DRC by 12: 00 (noon) the day prior to the scheduled exam. Exams may be delivered by email, fax, or hand.
Accommodated Testing Services Process (Cont. ) n n n Final examination must be scheduled ten work days prior to test date. Faculty must deliver the exams to the DRC by 12: 00 (noon) the day prior to the scheduled exam. Exams may be delivered by email, fax, or hand. The time and location of the exam will be determined by the exam coordinator. n n The exam schedule will be posted on the DRC web page as soon as the exam has been scheduled for the students and/or faculty to access. Completed exams can be picked up the day after the exam at the DRC office between 8 am-5 pm Monday -Friday.
Accommodated Testing Services n No Show – n n n Faculty notified and determines whether exam can be made-up. DRC office may or may not proctor the make-up exam.
