Glebe • The two most common personal incomes in the community are either ‘greater than $2, 000 per week’ and ‘between $200 and $299 per week’ • 19% of Glebe residents live in public or social housing managed by state, social or Aboriginal housing providers. This compares to 9. 2% across the City of Sydney. • 17. 6% own their own home outright (NSW average = 33. 2%) and 60. 3% of occupied private dwellings are rented (NSW average = 30. 1%)

Rationale for this focus • The current state of the precinct demonstrates complex social needs and challenges that act as a call to action; • Institutionally, we have a responsibility to the community that we are a part of – a position supported by a global movement in this space; • The Social Impact Framework identifies social capital and trust as key drivers for delivering social impact. The limited boundary of the local community, and our current efforts in this space, allow us to grow existing relationship towards an holistic approach.
UTS’s role in Glebe • Expand existing best practice efforts: HSC tutorial program • By invitation, have joined the Collective Impact Project • In conversation with the community, we are exploring the role we play in community: • Capacity building • Research • Contribution of processes (AI) and analytics towards uncovering complex issues
Local relationships…broad impact • Glebe Youth Service • City of Sydney • FACS • Moving from initiatives… to a comprehensive and integrated approach that unites UTS’s strengths and networks towards community transformation.
