Active Duty Death Benefits Paid by Compensation • Death Gratuity $100, 000 • Housing Allowance* 12 month Lump-Sum • Unused Annual Leave No 60 Day Cap • Final Active Duty Pay and Allowances
Active Duty Death Benefits Paid by The Agency • Final Household Goods Shipment – Up to 3 years to Home of Selection – 18, 000 pounds regardless of rank • Next of Kin Transportation to the Funeral • Reasonable Cost for Funeral Costs
Active Duty Death Benefits Paid by The Veterans Administration • Headstone • Death Payment • Dependent Education Program – $44, 000 for spouse and each child under 26 – Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance • Up to $400, 000
Active Duty Death Benefits Paid by U. S. Coast Guard • Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) – Treated as if retired at 100% disability – 55% of calculated retired pay • 75% of High 36 • Offset by Spousal VA DIC
Active Duty Death Benefits Paid by TSP • TSP – Refund or rollover to the beneficiary named on the TSP Form 3
Active Duty Death Benefits Paid by Social Security Agency • Lump-Sum Death Benefit – $255. 00 • Spouse or Children may begin to collect Social Security Benefits
Active Duty Death Benefits Health Care Benefits • TRICARE Prime Coverage – Spouse • 3 years free • After 3 years transfer to Retiree TRICARE status – Standard or Prime – Retiree enrollment fees apply – Children • Free until 21 or 23 if in school
