Unit Four – Adverbs Grade 11 - English Most adverbs of manner are Ex: slowly, loudly, quickly formed by adding – ly to adjectives. When an adjective ends with Ex: carefully, beautifully – l, we add – ly When an adjective ends with Ex: happily, noughtily – y , we remove –y and add -ly For adjectives ending with – ll, Ex: fully We only add -y Sometimes, adverbs are Ex: fast, hard formed without any changes in the adjectives. 12
