Unit 8: Assessor: Jane Parr Date: Assessment & Grading Recording Sheet To achieve a Pass grade the learner must achieve all of the following criteria; Assessment Criteria Developing a creative media production project R P M Student Name: Tom Blagg D Summary of Evidence/Reason for Referral 1. 1 Analyse the requirements of a creative media production project. . x Evidence in Production Diary & Proposal Your analysis is evident and you have shown an understanding of what is required to meet the criteria. You came to a decision early in your project as to the topic you wanted to produce your copy on. The city of Sheffield has many things to offer and I believe this is an extensive subject to cover but you took on board feedback and managed to narrow it down somewhat. 2. 1 x Evidence in Production Diary You have shown that you have researched sources to influence parts of your work but the research directly related to your actual subject is limited. You could have researched magazines which are specifically aimed at travel and tourism around the world. You should have researched more specific articles on eating, shopping and entertainment in given cities around the world as well as Sheffield. I like the Brunch Boys you tube video and I think perhaps you could have taken inspiration from this and done something similar in Sheffield perhaps. x Evidence in Production Diary & Production blog post There is some evidence that you have interpreted the research you have undertaken but it is only at pass level. You have used some of your design research on layouts to influence your print article although I do think this could have been better had you started your production earlier on in the project. There isn't really any evidence of influence for your online article that I can see. You should have researched more websites which are linked to travel. Review a range of research sources to support a creative media production project. . 2. 2 Interpret research to develop ideas and effectively communicate to an audience. Date: 11 th June 2014

Unit 8: Developing a creative media production project Assessment & Grading Recording Sheet To achieve a Pass grade the learner must achieve all of the following criteria; Assessment Criteria R P M Student Name: Summary of Evidence/Reason for Referral D 3. 1 Apply practical skills, knowledge and understanding to complete a creative media project within an agreed timeframe. x Evidence in Production blog post Your practical skills are evident but again there needs to be more evidence and only by organising your time better will you improve your skills through refinement of your articles. Your video keeps the attention of the audience fairly well and the music is appropriate. There are some transitions which are a bit clunky and you could have researched some of the places more to give more information to the viewer. The panning shot at the station is far too quick, panning shots should be slow and steady. The start is good with the timelapse footage and I like the fact that it starts and ends on the same shot. 4. 1 Critically evaluate a creative media project against the agreed requirements and parameters. x Evidence in Production Diary There is some evidence in your evaluation that your have reflected on your work and recognised where you have gone wrong. An evaluation should be a detailed look at what you have done from start to finish in your project and an analysis of what you could have done better. Based on the work you have produced for this project you have achieved the following grade for this unit. . . Overall Grade R P M D UCAS 60 UCAS 84 x UCAS 36 Summative Feedback You need to organise your time better Tom to be more productive early on in your project to allow time to refine your outcomes. Overall Grade: UCAS POINTS: 36 Referrals Procedure If you do not evidence work to a Pass standard for 1 of more of the assessment criteria then you will achieve an overall insufficient grade. Your submission will be referred and you will have one opportunity to resubmit work to a deadline agreed by you and your tutor, at this point you will then only be able to achieve a Pass grade. If resubmitted work is not to a satisfactory standard you will fail to pass the units required for the course and will not be awarded for Referral Actions: Date: 11 th June 2014
