Unit 4 • This unit looks at achieving sustainable improvements in health and human development at a global level. • Things we will cover: – Creating an environment in which people can develop to their full potential and lead productive, creative lives in accordance with their needs and interests. – Sustainability – The United Nations (UN) and their Millennium Development Goals. – WHO and its role in reducing global burdens of disease and promoting human development
Unit 4 -AOS 1. • Introducing global health and human development: • This area of study explores global health, human development and sustainability. • Similarities and differences in the health status between people living in developing countries and Australians, and analyse reasons for the differences. • The role of the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals
Unit 4 -AOS 2. • Promoting global health and human development: • The role of international organisations including the UN and WHO in achieving sustainable improvements in health and human development. • Strategies designed to promote health and sustainable human development globally. • Australia’s contribution to international health programs and contributions to non-government organisations.
