A brief introduction to The Million Pound Bank Note This is a famous story written by Mark Twain. In this story, two wealthy brothers make a bet on whether a man could survive a month in London with a million pound bank note. Henry Adams, a poor American, is chosen for this bet. After a month, Henry not only survives in London and becomes a rich man but also falls in love with a beautiful lady. Based on the humorous and slightly exaggerated(夸 张的)writing style, it reveals(揭露) and satirizes(讽 刺)the mammonism(拜金主义) in Britain in the early 20 th century.

The first part Make a bet Oliver believes that with a million pound bank note a man could survive a month in London. His brother Roderick doubts it.
Two rich brothers see Henry and ask him to come in their house
