EMILY SADLER QUESTION : WHY ARE PEOPLE STILL FASCINATED WITH THE CIRCUS? To answer this question I will be looking at: • The history of circus – Old showman and how they made a contribution to creating circus, sideshows, animals in the circus, circus around the world and where circus originated from. • How circus has evolved into the way it is today – the addition of new disciplines, audience numbers and demographics, performance spaces, education and involvement in the media/advertising. • Contemporary circus – Companies and the messages they communicate in their work, diversity present in circus casts and how disciplines, advertising, education, audience and performance space differs from those that existed centuries ago.
