Unit 1 Project Reporting on sustainable development
Human beings have done great damage to nature. The environment is becoming increasingly worse because of overdevelopment. We should do something for the future of the world!
1. What is the gift for the future? 2. What do you think we can do for the future?
Skim to find the main idea of each part Para 1 -2 The importance of _______ . sustainable development Para 3 -5 Natural resources _______ Para 6 -9 Alternative energy sources _______ Para 10 Conclusion _______
Read part I ( para 1 -2): 1. What is the current problem ? The world’s population will increase to about nine billion people. Meanwhile, the past development polluted the environment and wasted natural resources severely. 2. What is the possible solution to the problem ? The sustainable development. 3. What is sustainable development ? Sustainable development is long-term planning which focuses on the environment and preserving natural resources.
Read part I ( para 1 -2): 1. What is not the sustainable development? A. focusing on the environment and preserving natural resources. B. creating better health care, education, house and improved standards of living. C. being different from past development and easy to put into practice. difficult D. our future and the lives of our children will be in danger without it.

2. In the next several decades, it isbelieved ____that the world’s population will increase to about nine billion people. This should set alarm bells ringing _______because the bare fact is that, in order for to survive everyone_____, serious changes need to be made in global development. One possible solution to being discussed this problem ________is the sustainable development. Nearly everything we do in modern requires lives _____the use of Earth’s natural resources.
To do all these things, we mostly depend on fossil found fuels, which are ______underground and nonrenewable sources of energy. Thus, we are in great need of alternative energy sources, which are renewable. For example, solar energy uses the to provide sun _____heat, light, hot water and electricity. 警 : 物燃料使用 80%;再生能源使 目前的状 用不足 20% 况 保 念淡薄 The traditional energy are limited. For our future generations, we should save the current energy and take a green development path. The present situation is worrying, which sets alarm bells ringing. Fossil fuels are still widely used, making up over eighty percent of the total energy consumption while the use of renewable energy sources, 20%. On top of this, people lack the awareness of environmental protection.
优势与劣 势 矿物能 不可再生;二氧化碳导致水、空气、土 源 壤污染、全球变暖和酸雨 可再生 太阳能,风能,水力发电 能源 取之不竭、清洁、无污染 As we know, our dependence on coal and oil for energy supply has caused severe environmental problems. fossil fuels can’t be renewed in a short period of time. Burning fossil fuels produces carbon dioxide, which contributes to air, water and soil pollution and causes global warming and acid rain. However, renewable sources of energy such as solar energy, wind energy and hydroelectricity are obviously inexhaustible. And above all, they are clean and cause little or no pollution to the environment.
• 期 法 可持 展 政府: 金投入;教育民众 个人:…… (至少 2点) In my opinion, the long-term solution to the problem is sustainable development. On one hand, the government should invest large amounts of money in developing renewable energy and at the same time educate the public to strengthen the awareness of protecting the earth. On the other hand, individuals try to lead a low carbon life, for example, saving the limited natural resources and energy and recycling and reusing waste. Only in this way can we build a harmonious relationship with our earth and benefit our generations to come.
