Types of fiction • Fiction is classified into a specific type depending on its length. • Novels usually have subplots, usually the longest. EX. The plot of a young man coming from China in search of his father. There might be a subplot involving his attempt to get his article about his father published in an American newspaper. • Novellas have a word count of 10, 000 -70, 000 words. (Charles Dickens story, A Christmas Carol) • Short Stories are meant to be read in one sitting. (Little House on the Praire or Snow White)
