HISTORY • UNEP HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN GEF WATERS IN THE PILOT PHASE (1991 -1994) AND DURING PHASE I AND PHASE II (1994 TO PRESENT).
UNEP IW Portfolio n As of September 2002, the UNEP/GEF portfolio in international waters is valued at US$ 179 million, comprising 11 ongoing full size projects and 2 ongoing mediumsized projects.

UNEP IN GEF-III UNEP's project portfolio will focus on the following areas in GEF Phase III: n Integrated Land Water Resources Management. UNEP will pilot a megaregional ecosystem approach to integrated land water resources management for selected mega-basins.
