LEVERAGING NATURE CRITICAL FOR REALISING DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS q Conserving nature and achieving the SDGs go hand-in-hand. q The economic, and social cost of not factoring in the environment in national development would be horrific.

Green Economy and SDGs SGD 8: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all SDG 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns Human health is harmed by environmental degradation and change, SDG 3, 5 Environmental damage from irresponsible practices in mining and industry comes with health costs and social unrest, SDG 3, 10 Persistent poverty is exacerbated by ecosystem degradation, SDG 1 Extreme weather events destroy jobs in developed and developing countries, SDG 13 Food security challenge, an environmental challenge and humanity’s foremost employment challenge, SDG 1, 2, 5. Partnerships for an inclusive green economy are key to achieve the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda.
