Survey Development Overview of Data § Used key student retention areas of interest § Consulted with College to determine areas of interest § 20 questions (average time to take survey 10 minutes) Survey Administration § § Emailed 516 UG students that were supposed to graduate from CHHD in December 2018 1/23/2019 – 2/11/2019 Survey. Monkey to administer electronically 163 responses – 31. 6% response rate

Time Management § ~80% of students work off campus Selected Findings Sense of Community/Belonging § Over 70% of students have a sense of belonging (73%) and felt academically well supported at CSUN (76%) Satisfaction § Students seemed most satisfied with quality of instruction by faculty (86%) and access to faculty (64%) § Least satisfied with quality of advisement (26%), availability of courses (27%), and career counseling (22%)

Recommendations § Department-specific orientation (only 48% had one) Concluding Thoughts § Encourage students to participate in student organizations (only 45%) – especially those connected to majors § Look for innovative methods of improving advisement, availability of courses, and career counseling at department-level Next Steps for this Topic § Survey May graduates § Survey students that leave CSUN – why? § Expand to all CSUN students § May be interesting to connect findings to student grades/GPA
