RWADA: the Basics
What is RWADA? • RWADA is the acronym for Resident Weighted Average Daily Attendance • The RWADA is calculated based on the component's attendance claim. • Defined as: • RWADA is calculated by subtracting the Weighted Average Daily Attendance (WADA) of non-resident students attending public school(s) in the district from the district's WADA, then adding in the WADA of resident students attending fulltime in another public school district, and/or a school operated by a BOCES (or operated by county vocational education and extension board).
Where can I find a district’s RWADA and how is it calculated? • RWADA is reported on the Attendance Output Report (ATT) • The ATT report is available after the November Database, around November 15 th • The ATT report is available on the State Aid Website: • https: //stateaid. nysed. gov/

Where is the ATT Report? • Under State Aid Claim Reports • Select Available from the SAMS State Aid Claim Page • When the new screen appears: • Select the Claim Year • Re-enter the Components BEDS code and click Submit

RWADA and the BOCES
RWADA and the BOCES • The RWADA is used to allocate the BOCES Administrative Expenses along with the Rent and Capital (Building) Expenses • RWADA is also used to calculate the RWADA Aid Ratio which is used for all Components for Rent and Capital Aid as well as the components who do not use Mileage • The RWADA that is used for the 2020 -21 claim year is based on your components 2019 -20 SAMS attendance claim, which reported the attendance from the 2018 -19 school year.
RWADA and the BOCES • The component has until June 30, 2021 to finalize their attendance claim from 2019 -20 • The current year RWADA can change due to a number of reasons including : 1. Input Errors into the Attendance Tracking System 2. Incorrect Coding 3. Any number of reasons
RWADA and the BOCES • The school year 2019 -20 attendance will be reported during the 2020 -21 claim year.
