EXAMPLES a) A young person is walking on her way to class when another student starts calling her names such as “whore/ slut/ dog/ bitch/ bighole”. b) Sarah is not very good at basketball. When she has sports and plays basketball, another student yells our “you suck, get off the court”. c) Jessica is sitting by herself. Whenever she tries to interact with or make friends with other girls in her class they ignore her and turn their back to her. d) Tom was at a party over the weekend and had a bit to drink. When he got to school on Monday, everyone was laughing and joking around with him. Tom wasn’t sure why this was happening, until he discovered that someone had taken an embarrassing video of him at the party. Tom didn’t know about the video, and it has been shared on social media and text messages.
EXAMPLES a) John identifies as being gay. When John goes to class, all the other fellas stay clear of him. b) Every time Tandra (student) would walk past Mrs Dally, she would pretend to hit and bump into her. Tandra would also call Mrs Dally rude names. c) Tyrese isn’t popular, and has very few friends. A popular girl Emma pretends to be his friend, but when she is with her other friends, she makes fun of Tyrese is unaware of what she says to her friends, and thinks that Emma is a really good friend of his.
Definition of Bullying? Bullying is a pattern of repeated physical, verbal or social aggression that is directed towards a specific person by someone with more power and is intended to cause harm, distress and/or create fear or shame. bile
Centralian Senior College Policy - Types of Bullying § Verbal and Written – insults, threats, name calling, rumour spreading. Making comments about someone's race, religion, level of ability, appearance or sexuality. § Physical – hitting, pushing, aggressive “play” fighting, taking / damaging property. § Sexual - unwelcome, written, verbal or physical contact of a sexual nature. § Face and Body Signals – looks, stares, hand signs. § Exclusion – deliberately leaving someone out of groups and activities. § Extortion – standing over someone to take their money or possession, make demands, control their behaviour. § Cyber – using mobile phones and internet to harass, cause distress or spread rumours. Includes Filming fights and sharing or publishing this on you tube. § Homophobic Bullying - when nay of the above bullying happens due to a prejudice against or a perception that someone is attracted to people of the same sex.
