The instructions come from the disk, so the operating system is disk-based. controls how your computer's hardware communicates with the CPU, and it runs software applications. • Any activity you put your computer to use for can be considered an application. Typing a letter is done with a word processing application. Keeping track of your hourly wages is a spreadsheet application. Hardware • The most important hardware on your PC is the motherboard. Without it nothing can be used. Everything is connected to it. The motherboard is the one that connects everything to everything. The second most important is the CPU. It is the brain of the PC, a motherboard can't run without it. Then comes RAM is the memory that the computer uses to run, without RAM you won't be able to install any operating system, and even if you have it, you would need a hard drive. So the hard drive comes after the RAM. Then the keyboard, without it you can't install an operating system to the computer, and you won't be able to tell the computer what to do. And also a monitor is needed to display everything you're doing.
