T-1 Review Process (1 of 2) • Dean/Associate Dean: • Ensures all four required documents are submitted and have the requisite signatures • Reviews thesis proposal for quality: • Grammatically sound, properly formatted, and coherent proposal • A main research question is identified • A methodology and sources are identified in sufficient detail and appear appropriate to address the research question • A select review of literature has been accomplished UNCLASSIFIED 6

T-1 Review Process (2 of 2) • If the proposal meets standards, the Dean/Associate Dean then: • Signs T-1 and forwards entire package (T-1, T-1 B, HSR Letter, & thesis proposal) to Institutional Review Board (IRB) and copies NIU_Enrollments, Thesis Chair, & Ms. Eichelberger • Dean/Associate Dean approval permits MCR 703 registration and is required for student research funding requests • If the proposal is found deficient or in need of revision, the Dean/Associate Dean returns the proposal to thesis chair with a copy to the student indicating the changes required before the T-1 will be signed.
