Power System Status Decision made to go with Voltage Regulators Approach using existing Power Distribution Box design with scaled down capability for LDB flight. November 5, 2003 Description From Solar Panels 18 Batteries & Chargers 9 To 10 8 Prime w/ 2 Spare 4 2
Voltage Regulators Status • • Built 3 primary voltage regulators and have done preliminary bench level testing with XTE simulators, primary PDB, DC-DC Converter box, 4 batteries & charge controllers, and electric loads at full and minimum loads. • Units completed on 10/13, 10/21, and 10/24. System has been running and operational at different modes of operation. Parts for voltage regulators are on order for spare units. Target date for spare voltage regulators units be completed by 12/2. November 5, 2003 3
Power Distribution Box Status • • Completed buildup and electrically checkout primary PDB. System has been running and operational over 4 weeks. PDB has been integrated with batteries, XTE simulators, electric loads, and voltage regulators as their fabrication was being completed one by one. Waiting on Power Distribution Box and Voltage Regulators Test Procedure to begin actual bench power system level test before going into thermal chamber. Begun building spare Power Distribution Box. Target date for completion by 12/12. November 5, 2003 4
Current activities • • Stopped preliminary testing on voltage regulators to mount heat sink and to paint boxes inside and out while fabricating test switching and monitoring harnessing for data logger. Programming data loggers for data acquisition system. Working with SE on finalizing shunt resistors selection. Updating schematics, power system boxes power numbers reflecting change from ULDB to LDB. November 5, 2003 5
