Education Priorities and Planning Priorities identified: 1. Absence of digital learning opportunities 2. Insufficient programming for - young families - young people 3. Need to upgrade existing learning resources esp. loan boxes 4. Need to highlight the Hunt legacy in relation to relevant historical sites and to connect with these to create new learning opportunities
Progressing Priority Areas Projects: Current & Forthcoming Early Childhood ‘Play for Toddlers’ (with Parent/Carer) ICTeens Intergenerational project
‘UL: Beyond the Campus’ How can we work together in a mutually beneficial way to connect with the City and its Citizens?
Social Media ICTeens (Intergeneration) project Relevant Historic Sites
ICTeens (Intergeneration) project Phase I: Supported by The Ireland Funds • Young people will share their social media skills with our Docents and in exchange they will offer their knowledge of our prehistoric collections. • Using social media, they will then collaborate to produce digital stories revealing life in ancient Ireland connect our collection to relevant historic sites. Phase II: funding to be secured • Requires us to draw on Phase I digital content to produce open access learning resources to support classroom based learning in relation to the above. A key objective is to highlight the role played by the discipline of archaeology when interpreting life in the past. Could post graduate students of Local History and Technical Communication and Instructional Design contribute to this process with the Education Technologies Centre?
Storyteller’s Chair Opportunities for students completing the MA in Creative Writing or BA Performing Arts to assist with the programming of this space. For example: 1.
