WHAT IS ONE-ACT PLAY? • It is a contest sanctioned by UIL • The

WHAT IS ONE-ACT PLAY? • It is a contest sanctioned by UIL • The school produces a play no longer than 40 minutes • The school goes to a contest and competes against other schools

WHO CAN BE IN THE ONE-ACT PLAY? • Any middle school student in 6

WHO CAN BE IN THE ONE-ACT PLAY? • Any middle school student in 6 th, 7 th, and 8 th grades • Any middle school student that maintains a passing grade in all classes • Any middle school student willing to put in the time and effort to put on a good show

HOW MANY CAN PARTICIPATE? • I can have up to: • 15 actors •

HOW MANY CAN PARTICIPATE? • I can have up to: • 15 actors • 5 crew members • 4 alternates (understudies) • These are important and need to be at every rehearsal, as they fill in and help me feed lines to actors.

MITCHELL • I really wish to stress the importance of attending rehearsals • Every rehearsal is critical • Everybody depends on everybody else • Try to be patient when picking up actors and crew from rehearsal • If I go over a few minutes, please don’t bang on the door; it disrupts the flow • Emergencies • If one arises, please let me know via email or phone call • I will do the same.

WHAT IS THIS YEAR’S PLAY? • This year, I am looking at two or three plays. I am leaning toward “Double Date” by Florence Ryerson. • It has 7 fun characters • It shows what can happen when girls try to trick guys into a date. • I chose this play because; • It’s a fun little episode. • The characters are fun and challenging to play for young actors. • I like the story.
