Eligibility for initial and continuing participation in many of these activities is governed by state law and the rules of the University Interscholastic League (UIL) – a statewide association overseeing interdistrict competition. If a student is involved in an academic, athletic, or music activity governed by UIL, the student and parent are expected to know and follow all rules of the UIL organization. What is UIL Eligibility?

I learned what the teacher wanted me to learn. I understand the concepts in my learning targets and textbook. I practiced the concepts by doing my homework. I prepared for an exam by studying. What do grades measure?
Why check my grades? Help monitor progress in the class. Lets you know what you need to work on. Helps you stay organized if you are missing an assignment or haven’t turned in your work. Shows you what you need to improve on to raise your grade.
Break down the grade Looking at the average isn’t enough You need to click your average and learn why it is what it is – Are you missing daily work that could bump it up? Did you not prepare well for exams? Did you have a strong study plan that helped you succeed? Have you consistently turned in homework on time?
Weekly Expectation Each week, on TUESDAY & THURSDAY , sign in to Skyward and check to see if you have any missing assignments or zeroes. Make a to-do list for yourself (using phone, or piece of paper) of teachers to talk to and specific assignments to address. Find out what each teacher’s policy is about missing or late work – the syllabus usually has this information If it’s a zero– can you re-do it or turn it in late? If the answer is no, MAKE SURE to study for quizzes or tests, and turn in everything the next week. If a teacher has not put in your grade yet, kindly ask them in class, and/or send an email.
