REGISTRATION www. ucas. ac. uk n Register for 2007 n Register through a school/college n Buzzword is “hardye” n Use UCAS card number if you have one n
Fill in UCAS Form Make sure you use the correct codes e. g. 02 – LEA Finance n Mention any special needs n Put in all exam results including AS (If you have not declined grade. ) n Put in all exams you are taking this year. n
Be Realistic Know your Predicted Grades n Apply to courses that match the predictions n Apply to a spread of universities - Optimistic - Realistic - Pessimistic n
Draft Personal Statement See help document “ How to Write a Personal Statement”. n ¾ rule – 75% on the course & academic interests. n Start & finish with the course n SUBJECTS have capital letters n A good statement will take many drafts. n
Get help and advice Discuss Personal Statement with tutor n Get help & advice from relevant subject teachers n Ask Year Co-ordinators. n Refer particular enquiries to Mr Milner, Higher Education Coordinator n
Completion When finished & checked print off form with statement. n Give to your tutor with cheque for £ 15. 00 (payable to Thomas Hardye School) n If tutor satisfied with form press electronic button “Send to Referee” n Keep a paper copy for yourself n
References Your tutor will write your reference with help from subject teachers. n The 6 th Form Office will attach reference to form and send it to UCAS n This process will take at least a week, if not more. n
DEADLINES n Oxbridge/Medics - 29 th September n All forms should be given in by October 18 th at the latest if you want any chance of positive consideration by universities.
