UCAM n United Communities Against Meth (UCAM) is a joint effort between Western Oregon University and the Monmouth/Independence YMCA to fight meth abuse in the communities of Monmouth, Independence, and Dallas, Oregon. Consolidating information and finding resources for Polk County, Oregon citizens is essential. n Paul Pfinister is the community partner who has dedicated his time and energy into UCAM and contributed greatly to the development and continuation of the program. n The aim of the UCAM project is to raise awareness and provide resources for residents in Polk County, Oregon to help ameliorate the methamphetamine problem.

Information About Meth n n n Methamphetamines (meth) are stimulants. They increase heart rate, blood pressure, and body temperature. The maximum level of dopamine produced naturally in the brain is ~200 units, close to the amount produced by the intake of cocaine ~350. Meth produces over four-times that of cocaine ~1250 units. Street names for meth include: Chalk, glass, speed, and crystal (Meth can be inhaled, injected, smoked or taken orally) n
