Public Private Process • • • ACTIVITY: Define processes for making decisions about the roles of the Federal Government, the States, regional information coordination entities, the academic community, and the private sector in providing to end-user communities environmental information, products, technologies, and services related to the System. ICOOS ACT REFERENCE: § 12308 Execution Plan: – Present the IWGOO with a point paper summarizing the outcomes of the Biloxi Town Hall and offer to draft a set of options for the process at the 12/09 meeting. – Research and compile options for presentation to IWGOO at the 02/10 meeting. – Brief IWGOO on options at the February IWGOO meeting. Request comments and feedback from members. – Develop next steps based on IWGOO member comments and suggestions. – Once decision was made, coordinate with IWGOO staff on drafting the policy outlining the process to publish in the Federal Register. – Draft policy was approved by the IOOC and published in the Federal Register for the required 60 day comment period. (completed) • COMPLETION SUMMARY: The final IOOC-approved process was published in the Federal Register on August 11, 2010 with a 60 day comment period beginning on that date. This action completed the requirement as stated in the ICOOS Act.
