Deck Footings • Footings shall be minimum 20 inches square or 22 inches diameter. • Deck footings closer than 5’-0” to an exterior house foundation wall must bear at the same elevation as the existing house foundation.

Deck Posts Post Size 4 x 4 6 x 6 Max. Height 6’-9” 14’-0” • The height of the post is measured from grade or top of foundation to the underside of the beam. • Post shall be centered on the footing. • Provide diagonal bracing at each post greater than 2 feet in height. • Diagonal bracing is prohibited on center posts. • For free standing decks diagonal bracing may be omitted at the beam and posts adjacent to the house.
