Jigsaw • A. k. a. saber saw • Narrow blade used for cutting irregular shapes • Lifespan of blade usually short
Scroll Saw • Similar to a band saw • Blade not a continuous loop • Used mostly for cutting intricate designs
Reciprocating Saw • More powerful than the others • Used mostly in demolition or remodeling • Can cut through virtually anything
Circular Saw • A. k. a. the buzz saw • Uses a circular blade instead of a linear blade • Usually used to cut straight edges
Chain Saw • Used mainly in forestry • Most consist of a small two-stroke engine • Cutting chain is similar to a bicycle chain with jagged teeth
