Solitary Play • Solitary (independent) play – when the child is alone and maintains

Solitary Play • Solitary (independent) play – when the child is alone and maintains focus on its activity. Such a child is uninterested in or is unaware of what others are doing. More common in younger children (age 2– 3) as opposed to older ones.

Parallel Play • Parallel play is a form of play in which children playadjacent

Parallel Play • Parallel play is a form of play in which children playadjacent to each other, but do not try to influence one another's behavior. Children usually play alone duringparallel play but are interested in what other children are doing. This usually occurs after the first birthday.

Cooperative Play • Cooperative play is concerned with solving a problem by working together

Cooperative Play • Cooperative play is concerned with solving a problem by working together to achieve a common goal. In cooperative play, everybody wins. Play is how young children learn. Through play, children develop the skills they need to expand their physical, emotional, social, and cognitive abilities.
