Tuesday May 14 Reminders Lab Activity today Resistance
Tuesday, May 14 Reminders: Lab Activity today - Resistance in a circuit • • Last Thursday's lab make-up: today after school in room 200. Test over Electricity Unit on Friday. Final semester exam next Wednesday, May 22.
Circuits All circuits are based on Ohm's Law: the relationship between three concepts: Voltage/Potential Difference Current/Amperes Resistance/Ohm's ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A simple circuit only has a few components. We will be building a circuit that consists of only a battery, a switch, a light bulb, and some wire to • • •
• • • Lab Setup: Use the circuit kits, which consist of a board and conductor points to connect the different components of the circuit. Be careful with the components, they are delicate and we'll have to charge you for broken or lost materials. You will begin drawing electrical schematics diagrams today and using specific symbols.
The multi-meter
Today's Lab Activity: resistance in a simple circuit. 1. Work in groups of no more than two (2). 2. List lab partners of lab report. 3. Read all directions and follow all steps. 4. Be sure to use appropriate SI units where necessary, otherwise no credit. 5. Multimeters will have to be shared. 6. Turn off multimeters when done. 7. Do not leave battery running in the circuit any more than necessary, we want to conserve battery power. 8. If you complete the lab early, and haven't finished the assignment from the other day, use the class time to finish.
