KEYS This Week According to a survey conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the most common reason people do not wear their seatbelt in the back seat is because they think it’s safer than the front. It is estimated that unbuckled rear-seat passengers are eight times as likely as buckled passengers to be injured or killed in a crash. In 2015, 966 deaths involved an unrestrained person in the back seat. Be protected! Not projected! Always wear your seatbelt no matter what!
