Troop 189 • Troop 189 is located in Montclair, Virginia, and meet every Tuesday of each month during the school year at Pattie Elementary School's gymnasium. During the summer we also hold numerous events. • Troop 189 has been around for over 40 years. The troop was originally founded in 1964 but has only been continuously running since 1978. • Troop 189 is in the National Capital Area Council and the Prince William District.
Troop 189 Vision Our vision is to deliver a traditional Boy Scout program to the Montclair area using a boy-led method and a challenging fun outdoor program.
Troop 189 Mission Our mission is to provide a year-round Boy Scout program for boys ages 11 - 17 in the Montclair area.

Troop 189 Eagle Scouts • Troop 189 has been the home of many Eagle Scouts. • Since 1981 there have been over 110 Eagle Scouts in the Troop. • My brother Paulie is one of the only Eagles from Troop 189 that earned 6 Eagle Palms.
What’s stayed the same in our Troop? • We have always had great parent support to take on jobs to support troop functions • We focus on Scout skills and on having fun
What has changed in our Troop? • Mulch fundraising effort • More funds for all kinds of activities • We are a little bigger • We own lots of equipment • We go camping in all kinds of different places

What makes Troop 189 unique? • The parents are the key to the success of our Troop. • We are a little unique in that we are only one of a very few Troops that have the necessary equipment and training to conduct a climbing event.
Scoutmasters and ASMs • The Troop needs our adult volunteers to serve as our Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters. • There have been 19 Scoutmasters and many more Assistant Scoutmasters. • Our longest serving Scoutmaster was Mr. Mark Henshaw. Mr. Henshaw served for 8 years and still supports our troop as a climbing instructor. • Our current Scoutmaster is Mr. Kerry George
Committee Chair and Troop Committee • The Troop needs our adult volunteers to serve as our Committee Chairman and many more Committee members. • Positions include Chairman, Advancement Chair, Treasurer, Mulch Coordinator, Equipment Coordinator, Summer Camp Coordinator, and others. • There have been 18 Committee Chairmen and many more Committee members. • Our longest serving Chairman was Mr. Ralph Morse. Mr. Morse served for 11 years and still actively supports our Troop. Mr. Morse is one of the very few that have been both Scoutmaster and Committee Chair. • Our current Committee Chairman is Mr. Andy Tainter
Fund Raising Tradition • The Troops primary fundraising activity has been the sale of mulch. • Mulch money pays for a lot of our activities and equipment
Community Service Tradition • The Troops usual community service project is Highway Cleanup along Route 234. • The Troop also supports the community with many Eagle Scout projects.
