What is the Trinity? • 3 separate persons in One God • Like Water • • • Chemical sign of water is H 20 Water as a liquid is H 2 O Water as a solid (ice) is H 2 O Water as a vapor (steam) is H 2 O But each form of water acts differently and is used for different reasons

Power of Friendships • True friendships are beautiful and lasting • We have 3 permanent friendships • When you have a good friend you sometimes don’t have to explain yourself or your feelings, they just know • Ever give your friends advice and they don’t take it and things go badly? Your advice was good, and they should have followed it • In a group of friends each one has their gifts and talents, and the group suffers is one is missing • All this applies to the Trinity

God the Father • Usually pictured as an old man • In scripture He is many things SUSAN LOOK UP MORE • Burning bush • Calm breeze • Booming voice • We are made in His image, made by Him • He created us and wants nothing but the best for us • Loved us so much he sent His only Son to be human, walk among us, and to suffer and die for us

God the Son • Jesus • Is true God and true man • Mostly in the New Testament but was prophesied in the Old Testament • Someone that is a bit easier to connect to because He was human and had human feelings • Sad anger • Gave us the sacraments as outwards signs of His grace • Started the Catholic Church and put Peter in charge.

God the Holy Spirit • Help to sustain moral life • HS will prompt us to do the Will of God and work of Christ through gifts • Inspired men to write the Bible • His inspiration and power is credited for a lot of good works and empowering the saints • Sometimes is imagined as a dove, fire, or a bird on fire • Not a lot of people pray directly to the HS

Why is the Trinity Important • Everyone is very different • We are made in His image, with 3 persons in God covering all that we are • We start and end all or prayers with calling out to them “In the name of the…” • All 3 were a part of God’s plan for human salvation • All 3 are needed for us to fully know ourselves and God

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

On those, each member of the family will write characteristic, qualities, favorite scripture verses related or associated with that person of the Trinity. Take pictures of your posters and email them. Make sure every member of the family as added at least one thing. • 2 nd Assignment: See catechism quotes about the Trinity.
