“We are the average of the five people we spend the most time with” Jim Rohn famously said that. #tribewomen #tribeporty
Who do you spend time with? When it comes to relationships, we are greatly influenced by those closest to us – whether we like it or not. This affects our way of thinking, our self-esteem, and our decisions. Of course, everyone is their own person, but research does show that we are more affected by our environment than we may think. #tribewomen #tribeporty
Traits you should look for in the people you surround yourself with These people need to be able to stimulate your intellect. Why? Because you want that muscle to grow and your resilience to build. Placing your mind under slight stress challenges you to put your knowledge to the test. Seek out people who provoke slightly uncomfortable thoughts and challenge your mind. Worksheet. #tribewomen #tribeporty
You need the balance to be an expert We all want to be closely surrounded by positive, supportive people who want us to succeed but actually we also need to have our critics closer to us too. Studies have shown that experts (in their chosen fields) will actually seek and respond to negative feedback, whereas “novices” will have a preference for positive feedback. Experts actually want the negative stuff so that they can make progress. #tribewomen #tribeporty
The more successful you become, the more criticism you will face People will doubt you Be critical of what you do and how you do it And they will “envy” you #tribewomen #tribeporty

The more you believe, the more likely you are to act Having awareness and the belief that you are on target to reach your goals and be “successful” – whatever that looks like for you (there no rights and there are no wrongs) means that you are far more likely to take action. These won’t just be big, life-altering actions as what happen is when you believe something, even if it is only a little bit, you start to do thousands of other little things a lot differently. • You might talk to people you would normally avoid • Might help people you normally ignore • You might even do a random act of kindness, or “paying it forward” • You will ask better questions that get you closer to where you want to go • You will “uncover opportunities”, take more care of yourself, interact with more confidence and carry yourself differently
The net result of dozens of microscopic changes is huge TINY ACTIONS EXERCISE – “ 10 COMMITMENTS TO YOU”
10 things successful people do not do… 1. Work within their comfort zone. I am not suggesting you work in a highly adrenalized state, but what I will say is that you should try new things and expand your horizons. 2. Do not stop learning. If we stop learning the only thing we do is settle with what we already know. If we settle, we cannot expand our minds and reach endless possibility. 3. Never ask for advice. They always seek advice from the people who can help them, advisors, mentors, coaches, other business leaders. 4. Get lost in the small details. They always stick to the “big picture” and think about solutions before getting tied into the drama of the problem. 5. They do not “multi-task”. This is actually known to decrease productivity. Successful people get the most important task dealt with, each time, re-prioritising over time and time again.
10 things successful people do not do… continued… 6. Lie to themselves. Lying to ourselves is actually pretty easy. Facing the coalface of our problems without making excuses (and not taking responsibility for these) is actually far harder. 7. Procrastinate and not ask for feedback. None of us, despite who we think we are, ever has a 360 degree perspective on the situation we are in. When we procrastinate we miss out on the little jet streams of “insight” that could propel us forward. 8. They do not follow, they lead. “Lead, follow or get out of the way”. Successful people are not there because they go there by chance. 9. Let the past dictate their future. The past is something that none of us will ever change, all we can do is learn from it and move on with the lessons we needed to learn. 10. Hang around with negative people. Simply because negative people are vampires to be around when it comes to achieving success.
