We can understand trials and temptations now.

My brothers and sisters, be very happy when you are tested in different ways. You know that such testing of your faith produces endurance. Endure until your testing is over. Then you will be mature and complete, and you won’t need anything. James 1: 2 -4 GW

When someone is tempted, he shouldn’t say that God is tempting him…Everyone is tempted by his own desires as they lure him away and trap him… James 1: 13 -14 GW

The trials and temptations of 13 men are in evidence in Matthew 26: 31 and following.

Then desire becomes pregnant and gives birth to sin. When sin grows up, it gives birth to death. James 1: 15 GW

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing… James 1: 2 -4 NASB

In this life we will have trials.

Watch and pray

But each one is tempted when he is carried away by his own lust. Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished it brings forth death. James 1: 14 -15 NASB

Jesus never said that the falling away would be permanent. If, and when, you do fall, it’s not the end of the world.
