Introduction • Your safety is important • Travel safe through knowledge • Minimize risks - Pre-trip - Air Travel - Bus, Taxi - Hotel
Who knows how to make yourself safer BEFORE you start your travels?
Pre-trip • Pack Light (back strain) • Check Passport • Important documents stay with you • Lights on timer • Lock all doors and windows • Share itinerary • Not on social media • Unplug/turn off power
What are some ways to stay safe at the airport?
At the Airport • Keep passport and boarding passes in your control • Be prepared to remove laptop/shoes • Do NOT joke at security • Do not leave carry-on unattended • Do not accept packages from strangers • Check the monitors for gate changes
Where is the safest place to sit in the plane?
On the plane • Safest seat - Over wing - No more than 5 rows from exit - Window seat • Listen to flight attendants • Large items in overhead Small under seat • Have a change of clothes • HYDRATE!!!
Where is the safest place to sit in a bus?
On a bus • Safest seat - Middle of bus - Away from oncoming traffic - Aisle seat
What are some ways to be safe when getting a taxi?
In a cab • Make sure driver matches license • Do not accept ride from unsolicited driver • Check fare and fees first • Keep eye on your luggage • Know your route • Don’t leave anything behind
How about at the hotel? Best floor?
At hotel • Avoid hotels with outside entrances • Floor 2 -7 • Near stairs • Have bellman check room with you • Know evacuation routes • Keep luggage out of path
