TRASH AND TREASURE NOTE TAKING
A QUESTION tells us what to look for…… In Mi Barrio, My Neighborhood, we will look for answers to these two questions: 1. What can a person see in the this neighborhood? 2. Who lives in the neighborhood? Read each question three times.
Read ONLY one sentence at a time. After reading the first sentence, ask yourself, “Does it answer one of my questions? If the answer is "No, " then the sentence is TRASH. Go on to the next sentence. If the answer is "Yes, " then re-read the sentence carefully. Identify and write down the words that are needed to answer the question – these are your TREASURE words!!!
Move on to the next sentence. And do the same thing.
and You should write down ONLY the TREASURE words – words that will help you answer your research question(s). YOU SHOULD NOT WRITE DOWN ANY TRASH WORDS OR SENTENCES.
