Transportation In Syracuse, NY (Introduction) Transportation in the Syracuse, NY metropolitan area has transformed several times over the past 200 years. One of the earliest forms of transportation in the region consisted of water travel, and more specifically the Erie Canal. Transportation then evolved to travel via rail, and then finally via cars on paved roads.
Task -Create a Microsoft Powerpoint presentation -Must have 18 slides with pictures/maps -6 slides for the Erie Canal, 6 Slides for the Railroad, and 6 slides for Automotive Transportation in Syracuse.
Task (Cont. ) -For the Erie Canal/Railroad/Automobile, 3 slides with pictures for each. -Accompanying each slide, you must have a map showing where the picture was taken in the Syracuse area. (3 slides for each era)
Process -Find 3 pictures for each era and be able to describe what is going on in each picture. -Copy and paste these pictures into a Microsoft Powerpoint presentation. -Find these pictures using the websites provided in the “Resources” slides of this. ppt file.
Process (Cont. ) -Using Google maps, provide a screen shot of the map where each of the pictures you found, were taken. -Screen shots are taking by pressing and holding the control key + the Print Screen button. (ask Mr. Maes for help if you need it)
Process (Cont. ) -Once you have copy and pasted all of your material into your presentation, you may change the slide layouts or slide backgrounds. -You should include a title page with your name. (this will make the presentation 19 slides)

Evaluation -You will present your presentations to the class and you will be graded according to the following criteria. -Creativity – 20% -Material – 40% (Must have all required components for full credit) -Oral Presentation – 20% (Act professional and be able to talk in front of your peers) -Accuracy in describing each picture – 20%
Conclusion Each student should now be able to see how transportation evolved in the Syracuse metropolitan area. This trend happened all over the United States. However, Syracuse is one of the most definitive examples of how transportation evolves and how it can affect a city.
