About the Transit. Chek® Card • The Transit. Chek® Card, a prepaid Visa® card, is an anonymous card which allows you to purchase Metro. Card®, transit tickets and passes using tax-free dollars wherever Visa debit cards are accepted. • Transit. Chek Cards are available in a wide variety of denominations up to the current IRS monthly limit of $230, providing enhanced flexibility for employees. • The initial value is embossed on the Card. • You can use the Card to purchase Metro. Chek® Card (continued) • Additional dollars can be added to the Card up to three times per Card if your monthly commuting costs exceed the monthly pretax limit. – Before you are allowed to add funds you must register the Card. Card” • When asked for your form of payment, press “credit card” • Enter your zip code • Your request will then be processed • Take your Metro. Card • Get a receipt of the transaction to assist with any customer service issues that may arise • Keep your Transit. Chek Cards and add funds from a personal debit or credit card. – The Card must be registered before funds can be added or combined. Some personal information will be required. Transfer balances from one Transit. Chek Card to another Transit. Chek Card – If you have money left on your Card, you can easily transfer the balance from one Transit. Chek Card to another Transit. Chek Card. You can make up to three transfers onto one Card. – To make a transfer, log on to the Transit. Chek Card website, or call the toll-free number. – When using the website, choose the “Transfers” tab and follow instructions. • Add Value From A Personal Debit or Credit Card – If the amount of your commute is greater than your tax-fee deduction, you can add value from a personal debit or credit card to your Transit.
