Should goal setting focus on aiming high & reaching for the stars? Or, should it be practical and attainable?
Focus Questions Project objectives • How do the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) act as a framework for approaching current global challenges? • What opportunities do the SDGs present for the individual? For Canada? And for the global community? • Are the SDGs realistic or aspirational? Should they be realistic or aspirational? • To understand what the SDGs are and how/why they evolved out of the Millennium Development Goals • To understand the SDGs are connected • To research opportunities for agency for the individual, for Canada and for global community • To create a Pecha kucha style presentation, and participate in a critical friend peer support group.
Millennium Development Goals - 2000 • UN Millennium Summit 2000 • Goals outline intentions for 15 years, to 2015 • Targets identified to work towards • Agreed upon by nations and development agencies • Framework for focusing on meeting the needs of the world’s poorest
