TEKS: Grade 2 (2. 7) Geometry and spatial reasoning. The student uses attributes to identify two- and three-dimensional geometric figures. The student compares and contrasts two- and threedimensional geometric figures or both. The student is expected to: (A) Describe attributes (the number of vertices, faces, edges, sides) of two- and threedimensional geometric figures such as circles, polygons, spheres, cones, cylinders, prisms, and pyramids, etc. ; (B) Use attributes to describe how 2 two-dimensional figures or 2 three-dimensional geometric figures are alike or different; and (C) Cut two-dimensional geometric figures apart and identify the new geometric figures formed. (2. 8) Geometry and spatial reasoning. The student recognizes that a line can be used to represent a set of numbers and its properties. The student is expected to use whole numbers to locate and name points on a number line. http: //lead 4 ward. com/docs/2015 resources/TEKS_Snapshot_Math_New_TEKS_July_2014_ Grade_02. pdf Revised August 2014 (this TEK is not taught until 8 th Grade at this time)

Transformation • Moving a shape so that it is in a different position, but still has the same size, area, angles and line lengths. • Turn, flip or slide are the basic moves to use with Transformation.

Reflection • In a reflection, every point is the same distance from the central line or Mirror Line! • The Mirror Line can be in any direction. • The Reflection has the same size as the original image. • The Reflection faces the other way. • A Reflection is a flip over a line.

Rotation • "Rotation" means turning around a center • The distance from the center

Rotation • "Rotation" means turning around a center • The distance from the center to any point on the shape stays the same. • Every point makes a circle around the center.
