Transformations Project By: Diane Jorgenson
TEKS • Slide, flip, and turn shapes to demonstrate that the shapes remain the same (Pre-K)
Definition of Transformation • Transformation- a movement/motion that doesn't change the size or shape of a figure; such as translations, rotations, and reflections.
Examples of Transformation

Definition of Translation • Translation- A movement of a geometric figure to a new position without turning or flipping the figure; sliding a figure up/down/side to side without turning or flipping it.
Examples of Translation • A child sliding down a slide • Sliding a music note

Definition of Reflection • Reflection- a figure is formed by the flipping a geometric figure over a line of reflection to obtain a mirror image of the original picture
Examples of Reflection • A building reflecting off of the water, which creates a mirror image • The word “Reflection” reflecting over the mirror(reflection) line
Interactive Reflection • www. harcourtschool. com/glossary/math_advantage/definition s/reflection 6. html
Definition of Rotation • Rotation- a turning of a geometric figure around a fixed point
Examples of Rotation • Turning a picture sideways • Turning a shape
